TONY EVANS was born and grew up in Liverpool. Hewas forced out of the city by the (mis)managed declineof the Thatcher years and drifted into journalism in theUnited States in his early 30s. After returning home, heeventually became Football Editor of The Times.These days he is a freelance writer and broadcaster,specialising in the crossovers between sport and politics. Helives in London with his wife and daughter.
