Stephanie Amey was born in Widnes.  After studying at York University and working in Yorkshire she spent several years working in Kenya and Guatemala before settling in Norfolk. She developed an interest in roman Britain after living near Hadrian's wall as a child.  Her novel, 'The Edge of Empire' - a crime thriller set at a fort on Hadrian's wall, was published in May 2024. In May 2025, a second book in the series, The Mithraeum Connection, was also published by Northodox Press
