About Northodox Press
Northodox Press is an independent publisher established in 2020, based in Sheffield. Our mission is to elevate northern voices and represent the diversity of writing from Northern England.

As of 2026, we mainly cater to readers of historical fiction. But if you're exhausted by a book market oversaturated with old-world stories of a London-centric Britain or the cozy Cotswolds, look no further.

In the digital age, we're no longer confined by the traditional borders of publishing. Northern voices deserve to be heard, our stories need to be present.

We offer end-to-end publishing and creative support for our authors in both print and digital formats. Our team of industry experts will manage the editorial, cover design, and production processes, while you focus on the writing. Once published, our publicity and marketing teams will make sure the audience is waiting.

Our Eight Publishing Principles

1
Editorial
Our editors are industry veterans and professional proofreaders. They'll take care in providing you with the best manuscript.
2
Creative Control
Cover design and typesetting are performed in-house meaning that quality is guaranteed and your input counts.
3
High Royalties
Our publishing model allows Northodox to share high ebook and print royalties well above the industry standard, without any drawbacks in terms of quality.
4
Author Care
You will experience a personal level of care from the team. Our editors are writers and authors in their own rights so know the frustrations authors experience.

5
Local
We partner with local bookshops, event spaces, writing groups, literary agencies, and charities to place your books in the hands of your ideal audience.
6
Decentralisation
Publishing has long been restricted to London and Southern England. Northodox aims to work with local Northern authors to redress this imbalance and disenfranchisement.
7
No Fees
We'll never ask you for payments for any services at any point when you publish with us. We value our authors as creative partners in our publishers and never customers.
8
Diversity
Northern voices are broad and multifaceted. Our authors are drawn from all corners and we'll never discriminate. We stand with all backgrounds.
