STEVE MARTIN was born on Tyneside and his ambition was always to play centre-forward for Newcastle United. Things not quite working out as planned, he then set out on his travels and has lived in a number of exotic far-flung places, including Birmingham and Norwich.

Along the way, he clocked up many years in prison (as a teacher, rather than a guest of His Majesty) and has published over twenty children’s non-fiction titles.

 

He currently lives on top of a hill on North Wales coast where he spends his working days gazing vacantly out over the sea, and his spare time chasing goats out of his garden.
